Rosario (Rosary) Marie Torres, age 96, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, at her home in Plantation, Florida. Born on May 16, 1928, in New York, New York, to Romelia and Antonio Feijoo. She lived a life filled with selfless love, creativity, and unwavering faith.
Rosary graduated from George Washington High School in Manhattan and pursued her passion for fashion design at the prestigious Fashion Academy. Her exquisite drawings of high fashion were recognized and admired, leading her to co-found a specialty clothing line with her cousin, Connie Rodriguez. Together they designed for various fashion manufacturers, showcasing their remarkable talent.
In addition to her gift of fashion design, Rosary was blessed with a magnificent voice. She studied opera briefly, during which her talent was discovered. She soloed various works by the Master Composers and was a cantor and Soloist at St. Gregory Catholic Church. In private gatherings, her performance often moved audiences to tears.
In 1949, Rosary married her childhood sweetheart, Leonard. They shared a beautiful and rich life together, raising four children; twins, Christine and Cynthia, Celeste, and Lee. Despite the promising start to her career in fashion design, the birth of her twins led Rosary to focus on her true calling, that of a devoted wife and mother. However, many years later she had the opportunity of another career, supporting the operation of the newly formed family business, working steadfastly beside her husband till the early hours of the morning.
Rosary was the epitome of a loving wife and mother; kind, forgiving and totally selfless. She never complained and was always happy, her perpetual smile shining the light of her positive outlook on life. Rosary also had a comedic sense of humor, belying her aura of beauty and grace. People from various walks of life often said, "Oh, I love your Mother," capturing the impact she had on those she met.
Rosary was a woman of faith and a woman of prayer, reciting the Rosary daily since she was a little girl. This and her life as a Catholic, provided her with strength, wisdom, and joy.
Rosary is predeceased by her husband Leonard, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Christine, Cynthia, Celeste (Ron), Lee, as well as her grandchildren, Anthony, Kristene (Nate), Erik, and Alec (Britney), her four great-grandchildren Lawrence, Eloisa, Amelia, and Billy, her nephews Cliff (Cathy), Bob (Catherine), Craig (Christine), and niece Betty (Michael), and of course her beloved toy poodle, Joey.
