Ruth L. Lutz, 84, of Plantation, FL, passed away from pancreatic cancer with her family by her bedside on June 3rd, 2021. She is survived by her daughters Suzanne Lutz and Patricia Genhold (spouse Mark), and son Charles W. Lutz, Jr. (spouse Michelle). Ruth graduated from the University of Miami, where she met her husband, Charles W. Lutz, Sr., with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, summa cum laude and valedictorian. Ruth was very active in her children’s extracurricular activities including Brownies and Girl Scouts and was also very active as a band parent during their middle and high school years. After providing a solid foundation for her children as a stay-at-home mom, Ruth began a fulfilling career with Broward County Schools where she gained many lifelong friends. She retired after 38 years, including 12 years (1976- 1989) at Stephen Foster Elementary, 6 years (1989-1994) as part of the inaugural staff at Hawkes Bluff Elementary, and 20 years (1994-2014) as Executive Secretary for the South Area Director and several district school board members. Ruth was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Canada, and was an avid member of the Lutheran church. A gathering of family and friends will be held at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home in Plantation, FL, on July 24th beginning at 1pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 2pm.
