Salvadore M. Liotta, known as “Babe” to his lifelong friends, and “Big Irv” to many in the South Florida community, sadly passed away early Friday morning while asleep in his own bed, just as he wished. He left this world as he had lived for 89 years on his own terms. He would have said, “I did it My Way”. We thank the Lord for his life and for granting his last wish that he be home until the end.
Babe finally joins his beloved wife Catherine who he had missed so much these last eight years. Known as Brother to Joan; Dad to Carolyn (Ron), John (Jamie) Cathy (Ben) and Jeff (Bianca); Grandpa to Matthew (Rachel), Elizabeth (Lloyd), Thomas (Chelsey), Isabelle, Tarren (Kevin), Katya (Andrew), Hannah, Brody, Abigail, Andrew, Lisa, Angelica and Alexander, and Great Grandpa to Ava, Samuel and Emma.
Sal was a lifelong Entrepreneur having started a series of successful retail businesses in the Toronto area and later in South Florida, where at the young age of 67, he embarked upon his most successful venture the iconic South Florida landmark Big IRV’S Farmers Market in Hallandale Beach. He found purpose and joy through his work and his many friends many of whom he had known since childhood. He was blessed more than he knew and will be greatly missed by so many friends in South Florida including those he met at Big Irv’s (Hallandale), Largo Mar, the Italian American Club (Hollywood) and the Plantation Diner.
