Sara Ellen Trowbridge, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on February 25, 2025, after a brief but serious illness. She will be deeply missed, and her absence will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sara was an incredibly friendly and sweet soul whose kind spirit touched the lives of those around her. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia but grew up in North Miami, Florida, where she lived until 1990. She graduated from North Miami Senior High School in the late 1960s, and in her early twenties, she married Charles Trowbridge III, with whom she shared four children. She spent over a decade working for Friendly Ford in North Miami Beach and went on to enjoy a long career with Whole Foods Market in Fort Lauderdale.
Sara greatly enjoyed the company of her family and friends and lived for life’s special occasions when she could celebrate the health and happiness of loved ones. She particularly adored her sister, Jean Cunningham and her nieces, Ashley Dedon and Michele Sciandra. She also dearly treasured her best friend, Connie Hampton, whose unwavering love and support brought her a lifetime of joy.
Sara seldom turned attention onto herself and instead focused on the well-being of others. She would insist that people take care of themselves and each other before anything else. She would never walk away from a conversation without first signing off with the words “be well and stay well.” It is for her endearing sense of compassion that she will be missed most.
Sara was preceded in death by her father, Carl D. Schlicher and her mother, Mildred Gordon Schlicher. She is survived by her three sons, Charles Trowbridge IV, Eric Trowbridge, and Lance Trowbridge; her daughter, Marni Trowbridge; and her grandson, Eric Trowbridge Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 20-21, 2025, in Ft. Lauderdale. All family and friends are welcome to attend. After remaining in the care of T.M. Ralph Funeral Homes in Plantation, Florida, Sara will be laid to rest at First Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery in Hamilton Square, New Jersey, within the Gordon family section of land. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sara’s name to the Humane Society of Broward County, the American Cancer Society, or your local animal shelter.
