She was a homemaker during the Mid 1960’s. Known for her culinary greatness in cooking and baking in her area; Sislyn was asked to run the cafeteria at the “Button Factory”, in the Lysson area of St. Thomas, Jamaica. In 1969, Sislyn migrated to Los Angeles, California, and worked for the University of Southern California until her retirement in 1982. While retired, she continued to pay it forward by being an elderly caregiver to so many in need, and continuing to cook and bake for friends, family and those who wanted a hot meal. Sislyn moved to Sunrise, Florida in June of 1989, became a member of First Baptist of Sunrise, and served on the choir from 1991-2005. She resided in Sunrise until her death August 1, 2020. She leaves to mourn, with sorrowed hearts, her daughter, Cherille Douglas; son, Harper Douglas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and grandnieces. Her heart shined as bright as her infectious laugh and smile; she was always willing to help anyone in need. Fearless, courageous, stylish, ambitious, supportive, and loving only scratches the surface of describing Sislyn.
