Stetson Eugene Oster left this Earth to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven early Saturday morning April 25, 2020. For over 97 years Stetson had faithfully served the Lord, his family, and the community. As a young man, he served his country as a sailor in the US Navy during World War II. Upon discharge, he became a schoolteacher. He married Mary Catherine Mooney and together they started a small family having two sons, Ron and Shawn, in Springfield, Ohio. When Ron’s health forced a move away from their native Ohio, they settled in South Florida. Stetson took a job at Perry Middle School in Miramar and served their as a teacher until retiring. Stetson and Mary moved to the retirement community On Top of The World, in Ocala, Florida where they enjoyed many social activities together, with their favorite being Square Dancing. With health declining, they moved in with Ron and daughter-in-law Brenda, in Tamarac, Florida. In his final years, Stetson grew closer to Jesus then ever through the friendships he developed, and the ministry he received at Plantation United Methodist Church. He is survived by his two sons, Ron Oster and daughter-in-law Brenda Oster of Tamarac, Florida, and Shawn Oster of Pompano Beach, Florida, grandchildren Jonathan Oster of Clermont, Florida, Maryjo Oster of Washington D.C., and Jennifer Matus of Cupertino, California. Funeral Services will be announced in the future. He will be buried at South Florida National Cemetery being reunited with his wife Mary Catherine who died in 2018. Arrangements by T.M.
