Steven Bruce Magie, age 79, passed away on May 31st, 2021 in Plantation, Florida at Cleveland Clinic after a series of strokes. Steve was born in 1941 to Helen and Robert Magie in Geneva, New York. Steve was the youngest of two sons. His brother is Roderick Magie, who is married to Sandy Magie. As a boy growing up, he enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts and became an Eagle scout in his teenage years. He was in the marching band in high school, playing the Baritone Horn. He graduated from Manatee High School in 1960. He graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Meteorology and a minor in Mathematics in 1964. He served as a Meteorologist for a few years before a recession hit. As a young Father, he became a Scout Executive for a few years. He faithfully supported his family during good times and times of struggle. He later became a Mathematics teacher and tutor at Lexington Academy.
Steve married Susan Claudette Lexow in 1965. They were married 56 years on May 8th, 2021. Steve enjoyed being a part of a men's vocalist group throughout the years. He and Susan found great joy in singing and performing songs on the harmonica and piano together. They spent anniversaries and special occasions being each other’s bouquet of roses - they had grown so deeply in love and enjoyed each other's company so much that it seemed as if they were on a honeymoon with no ending. They settled down in Texas for 39 years before retiring in Plantation, Florida at Covenant Village in March of 2004.
The blessings of their marriage include three beautiful children. Stephanie, Stephan, and Sharon. Steve was a dedicated father who developed a special bond with each of his children, loving each one unconditionally. His example of a man, parent, and committed spouse has overflowed in his children's lives, creating an ongoing legacy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives.
Steve came to know Jesus at the Billy Graham Crusade in Houston in 1966. In 1982 he rededicated his life at Word of Faith Church and was baptized there. He sang tenor in church choirs. In their early married years, he and Susan were both youth leaders, and in their senior years, they were in the church choir and were small group leaders.
Steve is survived by his wife, Susan Claudette Magie, their daughter Stephanie Balfour and her husband Larry and their three children, Philip, Timothy and his wife, Corinne, and Nathan; their son Stephan Magie and his wife Ann and their three children, Joshua Magie, his wife, Chelsea, and their two children Traeton and Chloee, Jordan Magie and his wife, Morgan, and Madison Magie and her fiancé, Davis Brychta; and Steve and Susan's youngest daughter Sharon Magie. He is also survived by his brother, Roderick, and wife, Sandy.
