Thomas F. Caliendo, fondly known as “Tommy” of Plantation, FL passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at HCA Florida Westside Hospital in Plantation, with his wife at his side. He was 79 years old. Tommy was born on Thanksgiving Day November 23, 1944 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Although he grew up in Keyport, NJ he spent most of his life in South Florida as a resident of Fort Lauderdale. He was pre-deceased by his father Thomas and his mother Eleanor (nee Ciuffani).

Tommy was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a member of the U.S. Naval “Fighting” Seabees Battalion. After his military service, he attended Western Kentucky University. Later in his life, he owned and operated a successful landscape maintenance company, was a realtor and a Sales Director at a timeshare resort. He attributed his work ethics from his life experiences of working on his Uncle Tony’s and Aunt Rose’s farm in Holmdel, NJ.  From the time Tommy was a young man he was a major car enthusiast. Both owning and driving them, especially sports cars. 

Tommy is survived by his loving and devoted wife Abbie of 49 years; his sister Marie (Tom) DeLisa of Wayside, NJ; many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family will receive friends at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 22nd, 6-8 pm and Thursday, May 23rd, 10am-12pm followed by a Prayer Service. Entombment and Blessing immediately following in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
