Thomas Henry Harber (94) of Plantation, FL died peacefully in his home on August 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Indiana in 1923 and moved to Broward County Florida in 1950. In 1952, he Co-founded Fashion Cleaners, a family business that is still operating in Broward County today. Tom was an avid fisherman and a true fan of all South Florida sports teams. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded with 5 bronze stars, as well as, the Victory & Good Conduct metals. While serving in World War II, he helped liberate the Buchenwald Concentration Camp. Many artifacts, he acquired during his service, have been donated to various Holocaust Museums. After returning home from the war, he married his high school sweetheart Norma and had 5 children. He was widowed in 1961, then married his wife Catherine in 1963.They went on to have 3 more children. Devoted to his church, he was an usher at St. Anthony’s and a charter member of St. Clements & St. Gregory the Great. He was also a founding member of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Gregory Conference. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Harber, Jr. He is survived by his wife Catherine of 55 years, sons: William (Karen), John (Cathy), Patrick; His daughters: Suzanne (Covey), Julia (Dave), Sharon, Mary (Bruce); 15 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren & 2 great great grandchildren. The viewing for Thomas Harber is Thursday, August 16 at T.M. Ralph (Plantation) from 5:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00. Catholic Mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Friday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow church service at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
