Timothy J. McDermottJune 16, 1955- Janaury 15, 2018As many of you may know by now, we lost a good friend, mentor and leader in the community this week. Tim McDermott passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. Although he loved his Pittsburgh roots, and all of their sports teams, he was a loyal fan of S. Florida teams and rarely missed a Marlins, Dolphins or UM game. Tim (aka Captain Mac/Gatorboy Tim) was known for being a friend you could easily chat with and enjoy his vast knowledge of hunting, fishing, business and politics. He always had a smile, a good joke and a Miller Lite in his hand as he chatted with friends and strangers at any locale (most notably Jeannie’s/East Acre Pub, Flossies and the Downtowner). Tim was also often known to be the guy behind the grill or pot of gumbo at many events over the years. He lived life out loud! Never afraid to grab a microphone to sing karaoke or run a meeting and was always happiest when in the woods or on the water with all of his “kids.” Tim is survived by his longtime love, Kitty McGowan; his three children Kyle (wife Lauren), Kelly and Matt; granddaughter Katlynn; twin brother Dennis (wife Laurie); brothers Mike (wife Barbara), Tom and sister Susanne; ex-wife Lynn as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own. Funeral gathering will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm with a brief service at 4:00 pm at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, 7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation, FL 33317. Following the services will be a celebration of life at East Acre Pub (formerly Jeannies); 5219 W Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33317 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send donations: Facing Addiction - https://www.facingaddiction.org/donate Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time.Arrangments by T.M.
