Wanda L Brown

January 1, 1923 — January 26, 2021

Wanda L. Brown passed away July 26, 2021. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife and sister. Wanda Lee Brown passed away peacefully on January 26, 2021, at the age of 98. Her beloved husband of 72 years, Willis Terry Brown, predeceased her on December 5, 2018. She is survived by her four children, Wanda (David), Nancy (Dennis), Bill (Leslie) and Jackie (Michael); nine grandchildren, Teresa, Kristin (Jonathan), Leslie (Scott), Christine (Brian), Clayton (Lesli), Ashley (Ryan), Dana, Brittany and Emily; and ten great grandchildren, Amber (deceased), Jeff, McKayla, Ashley, Cassidy, Maci, Avery, Lucas, Emma and Bradley. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife and sister. She was an accomplished pianist and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Missouri State College, in Warrensburg, Missouri with a major in music. She met her husband, a Major in the U.S. Army Air Force flying C-47’s, while he was stationed in Sedalia, Missouri during World War II. He was the love of her life, and they married in 1946, and thereafter relocated to Wooster, Massachusetts while her husband completed his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. They then moved to Strongsville, Ohio, where they started their family, and ultimately moved to Plantation, Florida, adding to and raising their family there. They were residents of Plantation for over 50 years. She and her husband shared their greatest joy in raising their family and watching it grow throughout their lives. They were a constant presence at sports events and special occasions for all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She encouraged all of her children to pursue a lifetime of education and to set and achieve their personal goals, whatever they might be. As an educator, she oversaw her children’s nightly homework sessions, which often went late into the night. And she also was a presence in PTA, Stranahan’s Band Parents Association, PALMS (PAL Mom’s group) and other after school activities, as well as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and a Cub Scout den mother. She was a voracious reader and kept abreast of world events, surprising her grandchildren with her knowledge of the next great phenom in the sports or entertainment world. She was the consummate mother with an unerring knowledge of her family’s needs, to which she responded with love and caring. She will be remembered as always there to lean on or to help in any way possible. She is greatly loved by her family and will be forever missed. Arrangements by T.M.
