William Henry Kitchens “Billy”, 67, of Plantation, FL, died Thursday, December 7, 2017. He was born on April 4, 1950, in Flushing, NY. Bill grew up in Miami, FL, and moved to Hollywood, FL, in 1964. He attended and graduated from South Broward High School in 1968, where he lettered in football and track. Upon graduation, he attended Catawba College on a football scholarship. Bill transferred to the University of Tampa where he continued to play football under Coach Fran Curci. Upon graduating from the University of Tampa in 1973, he started his career in education and coaching football at Cooper City High School. His long career led him to the following schools: Nova, Coral Springs, Weston, Boyd Andersen and Jupiter High Schools. At an early age, the love of football, sailing, and the University of Miami, was instilled into Bill and his family. For many years, you could find him sailing Biscayne Bay, and the surrounding area. On most Saturdays and Sundays, you would find Bill and his family sitting at the Orange Bowl, or Joe Robbie (or whatever they call it these days), cheering on the Hurricanes or the Dolphins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Orman and Gloria Nicholas Kitchen. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, and daughter, Kelly (Jeff) of Sherwood, AR; brothers, George (Caraleen) of Tallahassee, FL, Bryan (Marilyn) of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Donna of Plantation, FL; and further family including, Aunts Margaret (Peggy), Jeanie, Edna, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM, at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 11:00 AM, at St. Benedict Episcopal Church in Plantation.
