Willis Terry Brown passed peacefully on December 5, 2018, at the age of 100 ½. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda; four children, Wanda (David), Nancy (Dennis), Bill (Leslie) and Jackie (Michael); nine grandchildren, Kristin (Jonathan), Teresa, Leslie (Scott), Christine (Brian), Clayton (Lesli), Dana, Ashley (Ryan), Brittany and Emily; and nine great grandchildren, Amber (deceased), Jeff, McKayla, Ashley, Cassidy, Maci, Avery, Lucas, and Emma.
He was a World War II Veteran, serving as a Major in the U.S. Army Air Force flying C-47’s. He met his wife, Wanda, of 72 years while stationed in Sedalia, Missouri. He completed his college education after the war at Wooster, College in Ohio, earning a bachelor degree in chemical engineering. Thereafter, he worked in the family business of aluminum smelting in Cleveland, Ohio, and subsequently relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to continue as a plant manager in that field. He was a resident of Plantation, Florida, for fifty years. While he enjoyed running, tennis and golf, his greatest pleasure in life was his family, often attending sports events and other special occasions for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with his wife. He encouraged all of his children to pursue a lifetime of education and to set and achieve their personal goals, whatever they might be. His love of life, continuous curiosity, and pursuit of accomplishments were an example of living a full and meaningful life for all who knew him. He lived his life with grace, humor and honor, and will be greatly missed by his family.
